![]() Former Turks and Caicos Islands First Lady Lisa Raye McCoy will continue to tell her story on the small screen when season two of her reality show begins this April. “We have some great surprises, adventures and growth for the new season,” McCoy told AOL Black Voices. “LisaRaye: The Real McCoy” is returning to TV One after season one broke viewing records for the network. With more than a million viewers, the first episode of “The Real McCoy” was TV One’s most watched season premiere on the network in 2010. Aside from people “wanting to be in my business,” McCoy said she believes the shows popularity is due to her experiences being relatable. “Coming off the scandal of the divorce with all the rumours and the gossip and not really knowing the story and not really knowing how to support me or hate me, there is a message that could be missed there, and it is that no woman wants to go through that,” McCoy explained. Season one saw McCoy involving Rev. Al Sharpton, American Baptist minister, civil rights activist and radio talk show host, to help her secure her divorce settlement from former Premier Michael Misick. Their marriage, which began in 2006, officially ended in 2010. McCoy said although the divorce is final, Misick has not coughed up any of the agreed upon settlement. “With what I put on the side (my career) to come and help this small country bring awareness to tourism there ... I did that and I did that well. So for me to be going through what I am going through just to get my money out of this situation (this divorce) ... it makes me mad,” McCoy said during episode two. However the eight episode season focused more on her relationship with daughter Kai, appearances and hanging with celeb friends such as Jamie Foxx. According to media reports, the second season will continue to follow McCoy on her trials to get her alimony settlement from Misick and her road back to celebrity. McCoy is scheduled to begin filming VH1’s first scripted series in Atlanta called “Single Ladies” in February. A jean line, PZI Jeans, is also in the works for McCoy, who is now a global ambassador for Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation’s Circle of Promise. |
