UPDATED 5-18-12: Police have arrested and are questioning two men in connection with the death of a 34-year-old British man whose body was found early May 13 near the beach on the northeast end of Providenciales.

Anthony Quinn, a quantity surveyor for local construction company Projetech, was last seen alive in the Grace Bay area at about 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 13. Officers began looking for him after receiving a missing person report at 8:20 a.m.

Then police received a 911 call and went to the area of Technology Drive just before 10 a.m. Quinn's vehicle was found parked near the beach and his body was nearby.

"Our investigations remain at an advanced stage, and we currently have two men in custody helping us with our enquiries," police Inspector Grantley Williams said May 18. "We are still not in a position release details of the cause of Mr Quinn’s death or a motive, but I would again ask for anyone with information to come forward as a matter of urgency."

Police are awaiting the results of an autopsy.

Williams asked for the cooperation of anyone who was in the vicinity of the Ports of Call, Grace Bay, Leeward Highway, Technology Drive or Long Bay early May 13. People with information can call the police at 911 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477. Tips can also be left in English, French or Spanish at www.crimestoppers.tc or by becoming a friend of Crimestoppers TCI on Facebook.

Projetech released a statement May 17 saying that Quinn was last seen leaving “Jimmy’s Dive bar” at 4:57 a.m. May 13. His vehicle (a green Jeep Liberty, registration TC7806) and body were discovered approximately 10:15 a.m. by colleagues.

Projetech asked that anyone with any information or who saw either Anthony or his vehicle to call 941-3508 or the police. Anonymity will be respected.

Projetech said Quinn was a key member of the Projetech team. He joined the company in September 2004 and quickly became a greatly respected member of the Projetech family.

"A single man originating from the United Kingdom, Anthony touched the life of a large part of the TCI community, not only in his professional life but also in social settings," Projetech said. "His work ethic and integrity was flawless. He was first into the office each morning and often the last man to leave. Anthony was a very peaceful and thoughtful person, and it is impossible to conceive that he would have made any enemies.

"We understand suspects are in custody. Nevertheless, we ask the public to continue to assist police any way they can and leave no stone unturned to ensure the culprits are punished to the fullest extent of the law."

A memorial will be held May 20 at 5 p.m. at the Catholic Church on Leeward Highway.

If Quinn’s death is ruled a homicide, it would be the first in 2012 in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
