![]() The 2012 South Caicos Regatta Fest kicked off May 24 and runs through Sunday on the island affectionately called “Big South.” Residents and visitors from all the islands are invited and encouraged to help keep this long-standing tradition alive. The annual event kicked off May 24 with the Little Miss Regatta Cultural Show, followed by community events for the whole family to enjoy. Friday’s schedule include a fashion and comedy show, music and dancing. On Saturday eventgoers can view or participate in various fun-filled events such as the triathlon, kite flying, dominoes, boat races, tug-o’-war and a Junkanoo contest. If you are arriving from one of the sister islands, make sure you book seats in advance. TCI Ferry has a new scheduled route to South Caicos and is providing a special schedule for the event. Flights are also available from Air Turks and Caicos and Caicos Express. So whether you choose to come out by plane, ferry or personal boat, make sure you come out and support the island of “Big South” in their culturally flavored event.
