The members of the Turks and Caicos Islands Brass Band will soon be parading their newly designed uniforms during their performances.

The new uniform blueprints are being exclusively designed by Kazz Forbes, who is the principle designer at Saint George Fashion House (SGFH).

“The Turks and Caicos Brass Band will continue to incorporate the country’s flag colors in their uniforms, but this time in a sleek, classic and youthful look,” said Elery James, administrative executive and public relations officer. “We are grateful and look forward with great anticipation and excitement to parade in the new uniform designed by Saint George Fashion House.”

The brass band was created under the leadership of Hoplyn Parker when he returned to the TCI after living in the Bahamas where he was a member of the Grand Bahama Brass Band. He wanted to bring the melodic tunes of the brass band to Providenciales, and with the support of Pastor James C. Williams the band was pioneered at the Church of God of Prophecy on Providenciales in 1975.

With only five students in the original band, Parker commenced music classes and taught the pupils the fundamentals of being in a brass band. As the students advanced in music, they established themselves as the Provo Brass Band, and a year after their inauguration, they made their debut at a Sunday church service. Their music was well accepted by their audience, and the band has been performing in various events ever since.

“It is indeed a privilege to be at work with members of the Turks and Caicos Brass Band, on an exciting assignment,” said Forbes, principal designer and proprietor of SGFH. “The merchandise is well thought-out. Myself along with members of the Turks and Caicos Brass Band are equally excited and enthusiastic to see the finale results.”
