TCI Bank Employees experienced a first in the Turks and Caicos, empowered their employees by providing training to all of their staff from the renowned training institute of FranklinCovey. Stephen Covey, founder of FranklinCovey, is the author of the world famous book “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People”. Stephen along with Franklin Quest (maker of the famous Franklin Day Planner Organizers) came together in 1997 to produce the FranklinCovey Training Institute in which they train Fortune 500 leading companies’ employees on how to be more effective leaders. On March 14, 2009, the entire staff of TCI Bank Limited will learn how to become more highly effective through this training.
TCI Bank Director John Benjamin said one must focus on the employees. “Our employees are our most valuable asset.” In the current market it is admirable that a company would put such resources in employee training.

This is truly a first in Turks and Caicos history as no other business in the country has ever received such
extensive training from a company of this standard.

“As a FranklinCovey consultant, I am excited at the opportunity to create and deliver this unique service excellence program for TCI Bank Limited" – FranklinCovey Trainer, Kristin Mackey. “When employees have a positive attitude, the byproduct will be great service.”

The employees learned to align their decisions with their values.  You can not separate your work life from home life, to be an effective person, one must have excellence across their life.  Focus is on the whole person

The training was targeted for the TCI Bank and their specific working environment. She commented, “this group from TCI Bank has been he warmest group I have encountered. One can tell, they are warm by nature.” Mackey

TCI Bank places great value on customer service. TCI Bank Limited wants to offer quality service to it’s customers and believes this training will not only allow employees to improve their personal leadership skills; but also produce community benefits through closer relationships and superb customer service from TCI Bank Limited.

"I'm proud to partner with FranklinCovey. As the person who heads up training for TCI Bank Limited, it is great to bring training from one of the most elite training facilities in the world to empower TCI Bank’s employees." – Training Facilitator; Sherwood Broomes who reports to the Manager of Human Resources and of TCI Bank Limited; Mrs. Madlin Potter is also convinced that "we need to empower and support our employees so that they can perform their jobs confidently and efficiently."

Mrs. Potter, “When the idea was brought to me, I readily accepted it as it enhances our customer service program.” Mrs. Potter is hoping through this training TCI Bank employees can pass on the positive values and enthusiasm they have gained onto the community.

“At this stage of the TCI Banks life, we want to focus on a positive atmosphere in the bank and the community. We feel the best way to accomplish this, it to empower our employees and as embassadors, they can pass it on to the community.”

She hopes the staff will take this opportunity to refocus on the positives, embrace the ideas and take them back to the work place as well as into their personal lives.  This training will give them skills to help them in their personal life.

TCI Bank focuses on its relationships with its customers. The training should help to focus on those relationships, keep them strong and continue to work hard to enhance that relationship with  the customer.

TCI Bank is the only indigenous commercial bank in the Turks & Caicos Islands. The Bank has afforded
TCI Belongers opportunities to own 70% of its shares, with the remaining 30% held by eight Indigenous
banks spread across the Eastern Caribbean.
